BBR:  Do you write under your real name or is it a pen name?
II: I write under the pen name, Isabis Inside for professional reasons. Foremost, the name Isabis basically describes the content of the series that I wish to depict and that is something beautiful inside. Within our exteriors, God has created our spirits which is the real us. I want to show how real that is, especially when someone has a strong relationship with God.

BBR:. What was the inspiration for your book?
II: The inspiration for my book is simply my delight of telling the same concepts through different perspectives. Born and raised in New York City, I was able to get a taste of such diversity, but consisted mainly of West Indian and Latino backgrounds and my Jamaican American heritage. In addition, I realized there is not much of a Christian fiction market for teenagers, especially minority youth.

BBR: Since your book’s setting is around high school, who is your targeted audience?

II: As mentioned earlier, my targeted audience are teenagers and young adults. I am a young adult, so being my age has been helpful in order to make my characters more believable for my intended audience. Yet, it also involves more research if I want to reach a diverse audienceWhy should I include a FAQ page on my Web site?

BBR: Who is your favorite author?

II:I respect any writer who brings his or her book to life. It's definitely a heart filled work. Yet, the works are truly enjoy are Victoria Christopher Murray, Esmeralda Santiago , Margaret Cezair-Thompson, and Richard Wright. They have been able to paint a picture with words without being too vulgar.

BBR: Did you pattern yourself after any particular author?
II: No, but I do value narrative work especially autobiographies. Such work helps me to create the voice for each character and depict an idea in their perspective. One of the differences that I see between my work and autobiographies is that the Being One series is an ongoing process while autobiographies are already said and done.

BBR: Are you currently working on a book? If so, when is your expected completion and release?
II:Yes, my expected completion and release for the second installment of the Being One series should be later this year, around Fall 2008.
